Statement/
The contemporary world is a world of sudden transformations—shifts so profound that at times, it may take centuries to fully comprehend them. Financial, political, social, cultural upheavals… And perhaps the most immediate outcome of these abrupt changes is confusion.
The modern individual is compelled to accept emerging conditions and to quickly adapt to the ever-shifting structures of existence. In this process—and by instinct—the primary goal becomes survival within these new systems: maximizing income, attaining power and social status, winning approval and popularity. But what are the consequences? The degradation of moral and cultural values, all in service of self-preservation.
In such a world, value is determined by what is deemed appealing in the moment: media, advertising, and branding. And the most powerful product of these contemporary fascinations is the social network—an unstoppable force capable of triggering vast changes in the blink of an eye.
Yet contemporary art, amid all this, seeks to position itself outside this vicious cycle, not for the sake of survival, nor to generate trendy appeal. The contemporary artist aspires to forge a direct and unmediated connection with the world and to freely delve into the unconscious in search of beauty and truth. Sometimes, a sound from the ancient past becomes modern; other times, the sounds of today carry echoes of forgotten worlds. And perhaps it is this shared disillusionment with the systems of the contemporary world that binds us together in the Nilper Orchestra family: a collective voice echoing the music of contemporary art through the halls of Tehran.
A voice that connects us to a timeless and spaceless realm, where survival is no longer the point.

About/
Nilper Orchestra was founded by Navid Gohari in 2004 for performing Contemporary Classical Music. The Orchestra’s continuous aspiration is to perform art music of both Iranian and international contemporary composers while, as the members of the orchestra, bringing together talented performers and rising artists living and working in Iran. Since its establishment, the orchestra has performed regularly in seasonal programming, and in its 13th year of activity, it has performed 28 full concerts, performing 58 works in the repertoire of contemporary music, 23 world or national premieres, and has hosted 10 soloists. Since 2008, Ehsan Tarokh has been responsible for the orchestra’s managerial activities. Nilper is focused on introducing and performing the rare repertoire of high quality, observing international rules of Copyright and interaction with publishing houses, and invitation and hosting of established artists and soloists from around the world. These all mark the concept, philosophy, and approach of the board of directors in Nilper Orchestra
