Beyond Conducting: Creating Spaces for Sound and Soul.
Navid Gohari is an Iranian Conductor & Artistic Director, Composer, Music Director, and Violin Player. He graduated from Tehran Music Conservatory and M.A. license granted by the Ministry of Culture.
At five, he began his musical education and later pursued studying the violin until nineteen. After withdrawing from his studies in hardware engineering, he enrolled at the Tehran Music Conservatory, where he completed his advanced studies in composition and orchestral conducting. In 2014, he studied Fundamentals of rehearsing music ensembles with highest distinction under Dr. Evan Feldman, through a program licensed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In 2004, Gohari founded the Nilper Orchestra, marking the beginning of his professional career as a conductor with a focus on classical and contemporary music. Since then, he has premiered and conducted over 60 works for string orchestra and symphonic orchestra by contemporary Iranian and international composers. He has also led the world premieres of pieces by numerous composers.
The main focus of his activities in the field of practical research is on musicality, musical functions, the third realm, and the tension between art and life. More than anything else, he defines his professional activity as “musical life and self-searching through artistic activity,” and for this reason, in the past two decades, in addition to conducting, he has had diverse activities and experiences in various fields of music. Currently he is the Artistic Director of the Tehran International Contemporary Music Festival, The Principal Conductor of Nilper Experiential Orchestra, The Music Director of Beyn Theater Group, The Director of Human Voice Ensemble, The Manager of Music For Everyone Projects, and The General Manager of TamrinSpace (The Work Center for Music & Theater).
