CMC Program: Perception

“We do not see the world as it is; we perceive it as we are.”

Perception is a private language of the mind—
a language used solely within oneself, for an intimate dialogue with the self.

Perception is the nakedness of the artist’s language exposed before the eyes of the audience—unveiled, unguarded.
It is a confrontation between artist and observer, a dialectic between the work and its objectivity, which ultimately shapes the destiny of the artwork.

In the process of performing this piece, we seek to perceive our world as it truly is:
How is our perception of the surrounding atmosphere formed? How does it express itself through an improvisational process in relation to the time and space we inhabit?

What forces cause our conscious perception of our surroundings to turn into a passive response? And what new atmospheres might arise from the conscious manifestation of our perceptions in contrast to the one already present?
